Aravaniakkum Anbu Illam

Vision for Illam Project - To improve the aptitude, attitude, knowledge and infuse confidence among the children for facing the challenges in life.

Our venture with Illam started in the June of 2005 and we have come some distance since we started.

What are we doing?

Illam, which is located about half an hour walk from C.I.T, is visited by our College team at least 5 days a week. Our members spend about an hour and half each day, tutoring the students, clearing their doubts and playing with them.

Our relationship with the kids does not end with books; they share their problems, their joy, their sorrow, everything with us. Competitions, games are conducted periodically to bring out their talents, give them a change and most importantly make them confident of themselves.

We noticed a lack of hygiene and medical facilities at Anbu Illam and recently held a health and hygiene camp  for the students in March, 2008. From now on, this health camp will be conducted on a regular basis.

Students who have aspirations to achieve goals and strive for it are facilitated with tuition from professionals and provided with all possible assistance. One of the success worth mentioning is Sathish passing 12th in 2007 and joining an engineering college. Jacob, Egamoorthi, Libion, Vijay and Ajay clearing Xth exams the same year boosted our enthusiasm and confidence. This year (2008) Santosh, Sethu & Yabesh have cleared the Xth exams successfully.

The success of these students’ has inspired others in Illam and we hope that we can make this initial success steadily gather more momentum.

Anbu Illam is one of the most successful projects we have undertook, the smiles we see everyday when we visit the place motivates us to do more. We hope our work will make these smiles as a part of those Children's lives.
