Success Stories
Nivithya

Nivithya is Vidial’s first endeavor. In early days after Vidial's inception, when we were thinking about what to do, how to move forward, the idea of giving scholarships came to our mind. After some rigorous screening Nivithya, studying VII std (September 2003)in a Tamil medium Government school in Coimbatore, was choosen.

Her father after sustaining an injury was not able to work normally as before. Her mother worked in a mill for their household needs and the family was finding it tough to afford their daughter’s education. Their economic condition, Nivithya's good academic record and their house's proximity to our college made us select her as the first beneficiary of Vidial. Apart from helping her fees, one of our members, on a weekly basis, visited her for tutoring and this continues till today. One of the happiest and proud moments in Vidial came in May, 2007 when Nivithya scored 80% in her Tenth state board exams. She is now doing here XII in the same school and we continue our partnership with her .

Kanchana

Kanchana, now working in a reputed company, lost her father in 2004 when she was in her 2nd year of college. This crippled her family financially and her mother found it very difficult to pay her fees. Good hearts around her, friends and college-mates helped her financially for almost a year. Her friends brought this into the focus of Vidial, in 2005. Despite her misfortunes she never dipped in her studies, seeing her proficiency, Vidial decided to help her.

Kanchana won the Gold medal in Engineering and got placed in the first Company which visited the college. Now Kanchana is a member of Vidial and actively takes part in our activities.

Kanchana was taking care of Nivithya during her college days and is in constant touch with her till now. This is the model, Vidial wants to pursue, mapping one beneficiary with other.

Sathish

Sathish, from Aravanaikum Anbu illam, Coimbatore, scored 83.5 % (1002 / 1200) in his higher secondary examinations in May 2007. We are really proud to say that Vidial’s College chapter played a small part in helping Sathish to achieve this.

Sathish hails from Coimbatore and he belongs to a family below the poverty line. Sathish’s father is having acute Asthma and is not able to work regularly because of that. His mother and his elder sister go for building works to earn bread for their family.

Our Members during their visits to Illam found Sathish to be exceedingly well in studies. Also being one of the older boys over there, he took care of the young children in a kind, affectionate and mature patient manner. Our members believed that if given proper teaching, guidance and motivation Sathish could score good marks in his higher secondary examinations.

With this thought they approached Mr.Parthiban of G18 institution, a mentor to Vidial right from its formative days, offered to take tuitions for Sathish free of cost. With his help and the guidance, and also the moral support of Vidial members Sathish worked hard and scored 83.5 % in his higher secondary examinations.

83.5 % might be an average score these days, but considering his family situation and the exposure he had, it is indeed a benchmark, a mark which has never been achieved so far in Anbu illam. Sathish is now being considered as a role model for the other kids at Anbu Illam.

Sathish is currently studying Mechatronics in an Engineering college in Coimbatore.

Jacob, Egamoorthi, Libion, Vijay and Ajay
Jacob, Egamoorthi, Libion, Vijay and Ajay are students who were inspired by Sathish. They took him as a role model and successfully cleared their Xth state board examinations (in 2007). This year (2008) Sethu, Santosh & Yabesh also cleared the exams successfuly. Vidial college chapter members played an important role in motivating and helping them to clear their exams successfully.
